How does GESB's Key Account Management team support employers?

13 September 2022

GESB’s Key Account Management (KAM) team is here to support employers with their super obligations and help members achieve their financial goals.

With the Western Australian (WA) Government being the largest employer in the state, we’re responsible for educating and supporting 102 WA Government agencies and 138,307 public sector employees as at 30 June 2022.

You may be aware that we provide educational seminars, webinars and worksite visits – but you might be surprised to learn the breadth of services we offer.

Helping employers make sense of super

Here’s a snapshot of the services we offer to help employers make sense of their super obligations.

Employer and stakeholder engagement

We regularly meet with WA State Government agencies to support payroll and HR teams in making super contributions and help them understand their obligations under relevant super laws. We also engage with other stakeholders such as unions, financial planners and industry groups to share information about GESB and our schemes.

To complement face-to-face meetings, we keep employers up to date through:

  • Email updates, including a quarterly newsletter and SuperSense emails
  • Regular website articles
  • An annual Employer Forum to discuss relevant changes to super
  • An annual employer survey, which allows employers to provide any feedback about our services

Payroll support

Our team provides information, training and advice to the Payroll General team, who directly support employers with payroll processing and submitting contributions through Employer Online.

We also work with our external administrator on upgrades and issues with Employer Online, to ensure employers can process contributions quickly and painlessly.

Helping employers educate members

Here’s how we assist employers educate their staff about their super.

Inductions

Our team regularly attend inductions to help new starters get the most from their super and set up a comfortable retirement. These range from a 20-minute stall with other service providers, to speaking to a cohort of new graduates for up to 45 minutes.

Workplace seminars

As part of workplace wellbeing programs, we offer a range of workplace seminars. These generally run between 30 and 60 minutes and focus on one topic, such as insurance, accessing super or salary sacrifice. This gives members the opportunity to engage with GESB at their workplace, while helping employers provide comprehensive wellbeing initiatives.

Q&A sessions

We run drop-in question and answer (Q&A) sessions in lunchrooms, hallways and other public areas of government buildings, so we’re available for staff to ask us questions about their super.

Retirement planning seminars

We regularly run member seminars in Perth and regional WA to help members prepare for retirement. These are generally held on weekdays after work hours and range from one to two-and-a-half hours, covering topics including budgeting, investment, transitioning to retirement and accessing super in retirement.

Webinars

Webinars give members the flexibility to access education at a time and place that suits them. These focus on one topic and run between 30 and 45 minutes. We can work with your agency to customise a webinar program to help your employees gain a better understanding of their super.

Regional travel

Our members aren’t just in Perth city, so KAM members often travel regionally to visit agencies around the state including in Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Geraldton and Port Hedland. As well as stakeholder consultation, we run several information sessions for members during these visits including seminars. This is a unique service offered by GESB, as other funds don’t travel regionally.

Who is the KAM team?

Each member of the KAM team has an important role in ensuring our employers and members around WA are supported.
