GESB members can now get their pension paid fortnightly
Everyone’s retirement journey is different. Whether your client is fully retired or reducing their work hours, having a flexible retirement income is key while they navigate this next stage of life.
Based on our research, we also know that our members want more control over their pension payment frequency.
To support this, we’ve introduced a fortnightly pension payment option for the following retirement accounts:
- RI Allocated Pension
- Transition to Retirement Pension
This means they can be paid either fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or annually.
We implemented this change on 30 July 2026.
Please note: fortnightly payments are not available to RI Term Allocated Pension members. They can choose to have their pension paid monthly, quarterly or annually.
What your clients need to know
We informed our Retirement Income Pension members of this change in their annual payment review letter. This included a copy of our Significant Event Notification which explains their new payment options.
Below is a summary of the important details and steps to change their payment frequency.
When will fortnightly pensions be paid?
Members will receive their pension payment on or before the Thursday of each fortnight. If a scheduled payment falls on a WA public holiday, it will be processed on the business day before.
How can members change their pension payment frequency?
Members can change their pension payment frequency by logging in to Member Online.
Alternatively, you or your client can complete and post a Retirement Income Pension change of details and pension payment variation form.
