Stop your account from being transferred to the Australian Taxation Office

Use the form below to confirm that you wish for your GESB account to be permanently excluded from the transfer of lost and unclaimed super accounts to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

Permanent exclusion form

By submitting this form, you understand that your account will not be assessed for lost member inactivity¹ – and therefore cannot be identified as lost or unclaimed – until you turn 65, unless you or GESB cancel it before that date. For this exclusion to remain valid, you must maintain a minimum account balance² (currently $1,000, but this may change in the future), and keep your contact details up to date, including email, postal address³ and contact number. You can do this in Member Online.

Please note: you need to submit this form by 12pm (AWST) on Monday, 12 October 2026.

1 Lost member inactivity test is if the individual has been a member of the fund for longer than two years, and the member joined as a standard employer sponsored member and we have not received a contribution or rollover for the member within the last five years of their membership of the fund (unless, within the last two years we have verified that the member’s address or email address is correct and have no reason to believe that the address is not incorrect, or the member is ‘permanently excluded’ from being a lost member).
2 If your account balance is under $1,000 and you submit this form to be permanently excluded, we will only apply a temporary exclusion on your account.
3 Please note: if two pieces of your mail are returned to us or we don’t have a valid email address on file for you, you will be considered ‘uncontactable’ and we will be required by law to report this to the ATO. This may result in your account with us being closed and the balance transferred to the ATO.
