Choose to stay with GESB, no matter who you work for

12 May 2025

You can now choose to stay with GESB if you work outside the Western Australian (WA) public sector.

This is an exciting change that has been made following revisions to our governing legislation to enable GESB Super accounts to receive contributions from employers who are not part of the WA State Government (non-government employers).

What does this mean?

This means that, if you move to a role outside the WA public sector or have a second job in the private sector, you can now direct your non-government employer super contributions to a GESB Super account.

Previously, GESB members who worked outside the WA public sector could keep their GESB account open and make voluntary contributions, however they were unable to pay their private sector employer contributions into GESB.

Partners of GESB members can also now send their non-government employer contributions to a GESB Super account.

Only GESB Super accounts can accept non-government employer contributions

Only GESB Super accounts can accept employer contributions from outside the WA public sector.

This means if you have a West State Super, Gold State Super or Retirement Income account, we’ll open a GESB Super account for you to receive your non-government employer contributions.

How to choose GESB if you work outside the WA public sector

Submit an online Fund nomination form to your non-government employer to choose GESB as your preferred fund. You email it directly to your employer’s payroll office.
