Helping members impacted by recent cyberattacks

There has been news of several cyberattacks on prominent organisations, including Australian Super, Australian Retirement Trust, Hostplus, Rest, Insignia, Optus and Medibank.

If you’re a customer of any of the above companies and affected by the data breach, we recommend you review your passwords for all your online accounts, including your GESB account within Member Online.

Here’s what we do to help protect your personal information and some of the actions we’ve taken in response to the increased incidents of data breaches to further secure member accounts.

How we protect your information

We take cybersecurity very seriously and are continuously taking measures to protect our online systems, so your information stays safe.

Customer identification processes

Most data breaches involve significant personal information which could be utilised to pass security questions, including those used by our Member Services Centre. We continually monitor and update our processes, including adding additional unique questions to try and make our identification process more secure.

Information security controls

We continue to monitor for external threats through a number of information security controls we have in place. We investigate any identified suspicious activity and where appropriate report it to the relevant authorities.

Online verification

We use up-to-date security measures to help protect your information, including security certificates and firewalls.

Contact us

If you’ve been impacted by a data breach and are concerned about the security of your account, feel free to contact us on 13 43 72 to discuss additional security measures we can set up on your account.
