Our accessibility wins for the 2025/26 financial year
Throughout 2025/26, we remained committed to supporting members with diverse cultural, linguistic and accessibility needs.
Here’s a summary of our achievements and changes we’ve made to help more members access our information, tools and services.
We’re making it easier to access and participate in seminars and webinars
At GESB, we regularly host seminars and webinars to educate members about their super. Most of our in-person seminars are hosted in Perth, with a few scheduled in different WA regional centres.
Earlier this year, our Relationship Management and Education team took our popular Retirement planning seminar to the Manjimup-Bridgetown region.
Following positive member feedback, the team are taking more steps to improve access to this topic and other future events:
- Members that don’t have a Retirement planning seminar scheduled in their area will be prioritised for invitations to the webinar instead
- All our live webinars are being recorded and made available on demand, with captions in the first quarter of 2026/27
- If members need additional supports to join our in-person seminars, they can now request these in advance via Live Chat, online form or over the phone
- We’ve committed to working with the Centre for Accessibility to review and report on the accessibility of all our seminar venues

For the first time, our Annual Member Meeting had Australian sign language interpreters
We marked a major milestone in 2025 by hiring some Australian sign language (AUSLAN) interpreters for our Annual Member Meeting.
This was a well-received improvement for our most anticipated event of the year, where members can engage directly with GESB’s leadership and ask questions.
Whatever our members’ linguistic and communication needs are, we have a range of support available on request:
- AUSLAN interpreters for in-person seminars
- The Translating and Interpreting Service, which was used five times in the last financial year by members needing help in another language
- The National Relay Service, which was used three times in the last financial year by members who are deaf, hard of hearing and/or have a speech impairment

We launched our new Retirement income calculator, designed with accessibility in mind
Our Retirement income calculator is one of the latest tools we’ve built to help our members plan for their retirement.
The calculator takes members through a simple four-step process to estimate how long their super may last in retirement.
As part of the tool’s development, we conducted a digital accessibility audit to identify and address any usability issues up front.
This ensured that the calculator would be easy to use for all members and work with assistive technologies like screen readers.
What’s next on our accessibility to-do list?
While we’ve trialled and ticked off several accessibility initiatives at GESB, we still have some work to do to in the pipeline.
As we introduce more digital services and enhancements to Member Online, digital accessibility will continue to be a core focus for the year ahead.
Alongside this is our continued work to remediate our PDF forms, product information booklets and brochures for accessibility compliance.
You can find more information about how to access our services and what we’ve got planned to improve access and inclusion for all members.
If you’d like to share any feedback or suggestions, we encourage you to complete our Access and inclusion - member and community feedback form.
