Meet our Annual Member Meeting speakers

Hear from GESB's Board Chair, as well as updates from our Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer.

Jo Gaines GESB Chair

Jo Gaines - Chair

Jo was appointed as Chair of the Board in 2021 and is an experienced leader and strategic policy director.

Jo has worked with government, private sector and non-government organisations to drive reforms in a diverse range of fields including job creation, economic diversification, energy, training, child protection, health, contracting and procurement, and climate change. She was a leader in the development of the WA Recovery Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ben Palmer Chief Executive Officer

Ben Palmer - Chief Executive Officer

Ben was appointed as our Chief Executive Officer on 4 July 2018 and is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the organisation.

Ben has over 16 years' experience across the superannuation and investment management professions. Before joining us, Ben spent eight years with Schroders in London, most recently as Head of Portfolio Management for the group's UK private wealth business, and previously as Asset Allocation Strategist specialising in the not-for-profit sector.

Paul Taylor - Acting Chief Investment Officer

Paul Taylor - Chief Investment Officer

Paul leads our Investment team and has overall responsibility for investment governance, investment strategy, asset allocation, portfolio construction and investment monitoring.

He has over 20 years of investment experience with superannuation funds and other institutional investors.

Brad Zaknich, Key Account Manager

Brad Zaknich – Relationship Manager

Brad has worked in the WA public sector for approximately 30 years, including more than 20 years with GESB.

He is part of our Relationship Management and Education team, which provides a range of services to support employers with their super obligations and help members achieve their financial goals.

As an experienced presenter, Brad can communicate the complexities of super in a clear and simple way for both employers and members. Brad will be our MC for the evening.
