How do I add an authenticator in Member Online using an Android or other device?

If you have an Android or other device without internal authenticator features (including older Apple products), you may need to download an authenticator app on your device. This will generate the one-time code you enter to verify your identity.

Logging into Member Online on another device such as a computer or tablet is the easiest way to complete this type of set up. If you don’t have access to another device right now, we recommend setting up a passkey instead.

Before starting the steps below, you need to have already installed your chosen authenticator app onto your device

  1. Log in to Member Online on another device

  2. Select ‘Add authenticator’

  3. You will be prompted to enter your password for security reasons and verify your identity before setting up a new method

  4. On the Set up security methods page, select ‘Add authenticator’. A QR code will appear on the Set up authenticator page

  5. On your phone or tablet, open your authenticator app. Note that specific set up steps will depend on the app installed

  6. In the app, select the + icon in the top right of the screen or tap ‘Add account’ (depending on your app) to add a new account

  7. Select the type of account – personal, work or school or other (this step may not be required, depending on your app)

  8. Scan the QR code in Member Online using your device. You can usually do this by opening your camera or using a QR reader

  9. Once scanned, your GESB Member Online account will appear in your app – it may display as secure.mol.gesb.wa.gov.au. Tap that account to view the security codes

  10. Enter the one-time code in Member Online to complete set up. The code will refresh after 30 to 60 seconds

  11. When the authenticator has been successfully added in Member Online, it will appear on the Security settings page

  12. To use your authenticator to verify your identity the next time you log in, select ‘Verify with something else’ when prompted. It will display your last used option by default

  13. Open the authenticator app on your device, select the GESB listing and enter the one-time security code
