How do I add an authenticator in Member Online using an Apple device?
As an Apple user, you may be able to set up and store an authenticator using the ‘passwords’ feature on your device (keychain), depending on your operating system. Devices with iOS 11 or later may have this functionality but please refer to Apple for full compatibility details.
If your device doesn’t have this feature, you will need to install an authenticator or set up a passkey instead.
For instructions on installing and setting up an authenticator, see How do I add an authenticator in Member Online using an Android or other device?
The below instructions are for devices with Apple's in-built password-saving features
- Log in to Member Online
- Go to the Personal details page (select the person-shaped icon on the top right of the home screen)
- In the Security details section (scroll down, on the left side of the page), select ‘View or update your security options’
- On the Security settings page, scroll down to ‘Add or change your security option’
- Select ‘Add authenticator’
- You will be prompted to enter your password for security reasons and verify your identity using your last-used security check method (i.e. phone, email or passkey) before setting up a new authenticator
- On the Set up security methods page, select ‘Add authenticator’
- On the Set up authenticator page, a QR code will appear
- Scan the QR code using your camera and follow the prompts to ‘Add verification code to passwords’. This may look different depending on the device you are using (iPhone, iPad, Mac)
- In the passwords section of your device, if GESB is already listed, select this option. Otherwise, select + at the top right to add a new listing
- Add the name and web address for the site and select the blue tick to save the listing
- Once saved, a verification code will appear. Enter the one-time code in Member Online to complete set up. The code will refresh after 30 to 60 seconds
- When the authenticator has been successfully added in Member Online, it will appear in the Security settings page
- To use the authenticator to verify your identity the next time you log in, select ‘Verify with something else’ when prompted. It will display your last-used option by default
- Open the passwords app/access from ‘settings’ on your device, select the GESB listing and enter the one-time security code
