How do I change my investment option?
Each investment option comes with its own level of ‘likely’ risk and return, so it’s important to make an informed decision. Before you change your option, we recommend you explore the features of each investment option. You might like to try our Investment choice tool if you need help finding the option that is right for you.
Once you’ve decided which investment option suits your needs, there are two ways you can change your option:
- Download a paper form and return it to us
- Log in to Member Online and change your option online
Download a paper form
You can’t type directly onto the form, so you’ll need to download and print the form for your type of account and fill it out by hand:
- GESB Super investment choice form
- West State Super investment choice form
- Retirement Income Pension investment choice form
- RI Term Allocated Pension investment choice form
Once you’ve completed and signed your Investment choice form, please post it to us at:

You can also email the form to: memberservices@gesb.com.au
If you need help filling out the form, please call your Member Services Centre on 13 43 72, Monday to Friday, between 7.30am and 5.30pm.
Change your option in Member Online
- Log in to Member Online and go to the Investments page.
- Select the Change option(s) now button. You’ll be taken to a page where you can view the investment options available to you.
Enter the percentage you’d like to invest in each option. You can select any combination in 1% increments. If you would like to invest in one option, enter 100%.
Have a Retirement Income Pension account?
At this step, you’ll also need to choose where you’d like your pension payments to come from. If you have multiple investment options and choose to have part payments from each, you can then indicate the percentage from each option you would like to use. If you choose to have your payments drawn down from one option at a time until no funds are left, you’ll need to choose the order of your remaining options that your payments will be drawn from. - If you have chosen multiple investment options, you can opt in to having your investment mix automatically rebalanced.
Rebalancing means monitoring your mix regularly and adjusting the percentage of your mix when you need to. For example, if you choose 50% Australian Shares and 50% Cash, and the Australian Shares grows to 55% of the value of your account.
By rebalancing your mix, you’ll choose to bring that percentage back to 50% of your total investment mix. - To submit your request to change your investment options, you’ll need to tick the box to confirm you’ve read and agreed to the declaration. Then, you can select the Change your investment button to take the next step.
- To make sure it’s really you making these changes, you'll be prompted to complete our two-part identity check known as multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Once you’ve completed this identity check, your request to change your investment option will be submitted. We’ll also send you an email to confirm this.
If you change your mind later, you can cancel your request before 11.59pm (AWST) on the same day. Otherwise, you can request further changes after your current request has been completed.
We’ll aim to process your investment switch within two to three business days, but it can sometimes take longer.
Once your change of option has been confirmed, your updated investment option information will appear on your Investments and Accounts pages in Member Online.
