Do you currently have any exclusions across your portfolio due to ESG considerations?

Yes – we exclude direct investments in tobacco companies, controversial weapons and nuclear weapons (including shares and bonds). For further details, see our ESG and Responsible Investment Policy.

GESB will generally only consider excluding a particular company or industry where it is unlikely to impede the long-term risk and return characteristics of the portfolio, it meets our exclusions criteria, and company engagement is not expected to materially improve ESG outcomes.

We regularly review our list of exclusions which may result in additional exclusions across the portfolio.

Our Sustainable Balanced investment plan applies additional exclusions to those listed above. Exclusions are a key input into the investment strategy for the Sustainable Balanced investment plan, which aims to manage exposure to companies and issuers in certain industries.

To find out the specific exclusions that apply to the GESB Super or West State Super Sustainable Balanced plans, see the Investment choice brochure.

To find out about the specific exclusions that apply to the Retirement Income Allocated Pension Sustainable Balanced plan, see the Retirement Income Pension Product Information Booklet.
