When you can access your super
There are rules about when you can access your super money, as set by the Australian Government.
To get your super, you need to have reached what’s known as your Commonwealth preservation age.
Use our preservation age calculator to figure out your preservation age.
Your preservation age depends on when you were born:
When you were born | When you can access |
---|---|
On or before 30 June 1964 | 59 |
On or after 1 July 1964 | 60 |
There are other conditions that you must also meet before you can access your super. Read our Accessing your super page for full details.
Early access to super
In specific circumstances, you may be able to access your super before you reach preservation age. These include applying for financial hardship or compassionate grounds release.
